Tucked into the base of the foothills surrounding the NamibRand Nature Reserve, in the heart of Namibia’s ancient Namib Desert, Sossusvlei Lodge is a contemporary oasis of ten glass and stone villas overlooking towering dunes and the endless desert terrain. Minimalist interiors open to a private veranda designed to protect you from the hot sun and at night, you can stargaze through the huge skylight above your king size bed. 

Guest areas merge seamlessly with the desert, as the stone and glass structure of the Lodge melts into wraparound verandas. Cool water gushes from an underground spring into the refreshing pool, while an extensive walk-in wine cellar provides refreshment of a different sort. Mouth-watering dinners are served by lantern light on the open dining veranda or in a surprise location in the nearby dunes.

The 445,000 acre NamibRand Nature Reserve is private property making it exclusive to the guests. There are lots of activities on offer here including guided nature walks, hiking trails, scenic nature drives, quad biking or visits to the ancient San rock art. For the stargazing enthusiast, there is a state of the art observatory which comes complete with resident astronomer who is there to reveal the mysteries of the stars.
