Discover Luxury Botswana Holidays

Welcome to the vast and untamed wilderness of Botswana. If you are craving escapism coupled with inspiration, Botswana has both in abundance. As you journey through its open plains beneath endless skies and glide through the Okavango Delta in a ‘mokoro’ (a traditional dug-out canoe) you will feel a sense of peace and tranquillity. Add to this the opportunity to encounter a spectacular array of wildlife and you have the perfect recipe for the safari of a lifetime.

Sitting at the geographical heart of Southern Africa, Botswana is the closest thing to Eden on the planet. In the spirit of its inheritance, Botswana is a brilliant diamond in the crown of the safari world. Its reputation for outstanding wildlife and sumptuous accommodation has grown steadily over the years and it is rightfully at the top of the wildlife lover's wish list.

This landlocked gem of a country is the same size as France and sits snugly in between South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia. A staggering 38 percent of its total land area is devoted to national parks, reserves and wildlife management areas. These areas are largely unfenced, allowing the animals to roam wild and free. A journey through Botswana has the feeling of moving through an immense Nature wonderland. A rarity in our over-populated, over-developed world. Untamed and untameable, it is one of the last great refuges for Nature’s magnificent pageantry of life.

Botswana’s investment in its wildlife has paid great dividends. Today, it is the envy of the Sub-Saharan African continent for endangered species and boasts the highest elephant population in Africa. As well as its impressive elephant herds, Botswana is home to the largest population of wild dog and cheetah in Africa. Leopard, lion, buffalo and rhino can also be found, as well as hordes of hippos and plains game.

Sparsely populated at around 2.2 million, the country is steeped in culture and history, and it enjoys a buoyant economy and stable government. The Botswana people are proud, charming, graceful and peaceful, and they ensure that their visitors are treated like royalty. A journey to Botswana will leave you captivated from the moment you land to the moment you leave.

Our Africa expert, Kate Holmes, lived and worked in the safari industry in Botswana for 17 years and is tremendously passionate about it – so be prepared to be taken on a journey from the moment you start planning!
