Discover Luxury Botswana Holidays

Welcome to the vast and game rich wilderness of Botswana. If you are after luxury safari coupled with inspiration from the wild, Botswana has both in abundance. As you journey through its open plains beneath endless skies and glide through the Okavango Delta in a ‘mokoro’ (traditional dug-out canoe) you will feel a sense of peace and tranquillity. Add to this the opportunity to encounter a spectacular array of wildlife and you have the perfect recipe for the safari of a lifetime. From the verdant delta to the moonlike Makgadikgadi further south where you can walk with the meerkats and learn about life in the bush, Botswana is a fantastic country and a safari there will leave you feeling astounded at the beauty of the wild.

Botswana’s investment in its wildlife has paid great dividends. As well as its impressive elephant herds, Botswana is home to the largest population of wild dog and cheetah in Africa. Leopard, lion, buffalo and rhino can also be found, as well as hordes of hippos and plains game. Botswana banned game hunting in 2014 leading to an explosion in wildlife and thus the game viewing is second to none. In early 2019 the ban on elephant was controversially lifted and although the impact on the safari industry is minimal, it makes for a fascinating conversation with the guides and trackers for whom every such decision affects the office in which they work.

Sitting at the geographical heart of Southern Africa, Botswana is the closest thing to Eden on the planet. In the spirit of its inheritance, Botswana is a brilliant diamond in the crown of the safari world. Its reputation for outstanding wildlife and sumptuous accommodation has grown steadily over the years and it is rightfully at the top of the wildlife lover's wish list. The classic Jack’s Camp is currently under refurbishment (private pools and electricity en route) and the Machaba Camps offer more affordable, yet still classy and fun option.

This landlocked gem of a country is the same size as France and sits snugly in between South AfricaNamibiaZimbabwe and Zambia. A staggering 38 percent of its total land area is devoted to national parks, reserves and wildlife management areas. These areas are largely unfenced, allowing the animals to roam wild and free. A lot of Botwana’s bush is divided into private concessions, meaning that only lodges inside the concessions can access them – thus ensuring exclusivity. Night game drives and walking safaris are also allowed in private concessions. A journey through Botswana has the feeling of moving through an immense Nature wonderland. A rarity in our over-populated, over-developed world.

Sparsely populated at around 2.3 million, the country is steeped in culture and history, and it enjoys a buoyant economy and stable government. The Botswana people are proud, charming, graceful and peaceful, and they ensure that their visitors are treated like royalty. A journey through Botswana will leave you captivated from the moment you land to the moment you leave.

Client Testimonials

I would recommend Ampersand without any hesitation!!! The best travel agent that I’ve ever had. Everything – from the individual care and attention in planning the trip, through to the efficiency of the agents on the ground in India – was handled brilliantly. An absolutely first-class service all round!
- Matthew Annable, Rajasthan, India
Ampersand’s preparation, attention to detail and interaction before and during our trip show exactly why good travel agents have a role in today’s internet booking age. They were a delight to deal with!
- Mr David Wallace, North India
Getting to Amanpulo from Manila was very simple and the beach was the most beautiful I’d ever been on; pristine white sand, not a single piece of rubbish in sight. You get your own solar powered golf buggy to drive around resort (and a butler at request). The views from the Hillside Casita were spectacular!
