SUJÁN JAWAI
Jawai Bandh

SUJÁN JAWAI is the third tented wildlife camp in India by the glorious SUJÁN, joining the ranks of Ampersand favourites SUJÁN Sher Bagh in Ranthambore and SUJÁN The Serai in Jaisalmer, as well as the luxury hotel SUJÁN Rajmahal Palace in Jaipur. Located between Jodhpur and Udaipur, SUJÁN JAWAI is surrounded by the ancient Aravalli mountain range and it is the only property to lie within this unexplored wilderness, home to the wild leopard.

In true SUJÁN style, JAWAI is ultra-sophisticated and gorgeous, effortlessly combining wildlife and culture, and it practices low impact eco-tourism and is uncompromising on conservation. The camp has just 10 luxurious tents (8 luxury tents, one family tented suite and one royal tented suite), which are spacious, private and decked-out in contemporary Out-of-Africa style, with a Rajasthani twist: canvas walls decorated with black-and-white photographs of leopards, steel and black leather furnishings, handcrafted traditional artefacts, private bathrooms with rain showers and touches of red to mirror the Rabari tribe’s vibrant turbans. JAWAI’s Royal Tented Suite is their latest addition and redefines luxury in the wilderness. With unrivalled privacy; a private heated swimming pool, your own private butler, a private jeep for wilderness game drives and spectacular views of the dramatic, granite hills, it doesn’t get more spoiling than this. The camp also has a dining tent, a lounge tent, a spa offering wellness therapies and treatments and a swimming pool. Private dining experiences can be set up in in secluded spots; think breakfasts in the bush, picnics in the wild, or dinners under an unending starry sky.

Surrounded by craggy granite formations, caves, scrub, grasslands and winding sand river beds, there are few camps in the world that give you the extraordinary wildlife encounters afforded here. SUJÁN JAWAI lies minutes away from Jawai Bandh, one of the largest water reservoirs in western Rajasthan and attracts an impressive array of birdlife and wildlife. Accompanied by trained trackers and guides, venture out in sleek, open-topped 4×4 safari jeeps; visitors have an almost 75% chance of seeing a wild leopard and can also meet with the charismatic herdsmen of the semi-nomadic Rabari community, who have lived peacefully alongside the region’s wildlife for centuries.

Beyond the wildlife, there are plenty of cultural excursions to occupy yourself with too; be taken to the exquisitely carved temples of Ranakpur or the mighty Kumbhalgarh Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, take on the local children at street cricket, visit one of SUJÁN’s adopted school projects, hike to a temple at dawn or cycle through the nearby villages.

SUJÁN JAWAI is a seasonal, luxury-tented camp and remains open to guests from 25th September until 30th April, each year.

Client Testimonials

I thought the Ampersand team was outstanding. We couldn’t have hoped for anything more.
- Mr Geoffrey Johnson, India
Getting to Amanpulo from Manila was very simple and the beach was the most beautiful I’d ever been on; pristine white sand, not a single piece of rubbish in sight. You get your own solar powered golf buggy to drive around resort (and a butler at request). The views from the Hillside Casita were spectacular!
- Mr Wyburd, Philippines
Ampersand provided a bespoke and flexible holiday, tailored to my every whim. Their highly professional staff had only one goal which was to arrange an exceptional holiday and some unforgettable experiences in India. I have no hesitation in fully recommending them and they will be the first company I approach in the future - 10/10
