Ampersand’s Signature Sri Lanka Tour

16 days from £8,930 for 2025 per person

Our in-depth signature tour encompasses the very best of Sri Lanka’s historical site and boutique hotels.

Starting in the Cultural Triangle visit Sri Lanka’s ancient cities; explore the glorious Dambulla cave temples, climb up to the sky citadel of Sigiriya, get lost in the bygone city of Anuradhapura, realise your inner Indiana Jones and discover Ritigala. As you immerse yourself in the surroundings, start at the beautiful and luxurious Ulagalla Resort where you can easily add on extra leisure days to enjoy the stunning surroundings and in-house activities. These include nature walks, archery and cookery classes to name a few. Move onto the earthy but modern Kalundewa Retreat. Uwind with an Arak sour at the end of a long day sightseeing. There are also plenty of hotel activities to occupy yourself with too, such as local village visits and bird watching.

Continue your journey onto the last royal capital of Kandy, a fascinating city with a colonial past, where you will explore the historical city and visit the Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya. From Kandy drive up into the undulating hills of the mesmerising and verdant Tea Country. In the quiet and tranquil land of the tea plantations, embark on private walking tours and watch women deftly pluck tea from the stems and fling them into the baskets. Learn how it is harvested, dried and aged in a colonial tea factory. Tea Trails’ utterly spoiling Castlereagh bungalow, with views over the glassy and serene lake, will provide you with much comfort and five star service during your stay.

Drive down to the coastal plains on the Sri Lanka’s finest palm fringes beaches. Amanwella is an ultra-sexy, understated beachfront hotel situated in a picturesque coconut grove fronting a crescent shaped beach. There is plenty of open air living space here to relax in, including a 47 meter pool, and a restaurant with stunning ocean views. This hotel is the perfect contrast to its sister Aman property, Amangalla which oozes sophisticated luxury and old-world charm, in in the heart of the UNESCO 17th century Dutch Fort of Galle.

Your penultimate stop is the gloriously relaxing Kahanda Kanda. Perfect for a haven of nature whilst also being close enough to the coast for a beach day. Run with superb attention to detail with ultra-slick service, you'll likely wish that you had stayed longer! Return to Colombo for your final night, staying at the quaint and traditional Maniumpathy. Partake in a spot of sightseeing or even some shopping - do ask us for our recommendations as we have some firm favourites, especially for homeware!

This tour is purely a suggested itinerary. It can be booked as it is or alternatively used as a starting point for creating your own perfect tailor-made holiday to Sri LankaIf you'd like to see similar tours, take a look at our other Honeymoon and Epic Journey itineraries.

Client Testimonials

Ampersand provided a bespoke and flexible holiday, tailored to my every whim. Their highly professional staff had only one goal which was to arrange an exceptional holiday and some unforgettable experiences in India. I have no hesitation in fully recommending them and they will be the first company I approach in the future - 10/10

We really enjoyed the trip and were happy that we squeezed so much into a few short days. The Burmese people were lovely and the sites were fantastic. We really enjoyed the balloon ride and would highly suggest it to others in the future. The trip went super smoothly and a good time plus learning happened for all. Yangon was nice as the Strand was quite amazing and we of course loved the giant gold temple. Many thanks for all of your help and look forward to future travel with you.
