Amankora’s five distinct lodges, based in Thimphu, Paro, Punakha, Gangtey and Bumthang, offer a unique and unrivalled circuit through Bhutan’s valleys.

Surrounded by blue pine forests and situated on the outskirts of Thimphu's smartest Motithang district in the upper reaches of the Thimphu Valley, Amankora Thimphu is a quiet retreat tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the Kingdom's capital city whilst being ideally placed for exploring Thimphu’s museums, traditional shops and numerous cultural sites.

Amankora Thimphu is a 16-suite lodge, built of dzong-inspired architecture incorporating high stone, white-washed buildings that are accessed through an enclosed arrival courtyard; think Le Corbusier meets traditional Bhutanese architecture. The suites combine a bedroom with a king-size bed, and a cosy lounge area with a reading chair and a window banquette. These alcoves provide views across a beautifully landscaped courtyard, or over across the stream and thickets of pine forest. For an extra touch of homeliness, a traditional bukhari is positioned between the bedroom and the bathroom. The suite’s interiors are designed in classic, understated Aman style, with traditional wood panelling and chocolate brown hues throughout. The spacious bathroom opens from the bedroom and has twin vanities, a separate shower and a terrazzo-clad bath.

In the centre of the property, stairs lead from the main entry point to a dramatic combined living and dining room which features soaring ceilings and wood panelled walls. Adjacent to this area is a very pleasant flagstone outdoor dining deck with views over the nearby stream and surrounding blue pine forest, the perfect spot to dine under the stars or to enjoy an aperitif in the dimming dusk light. Your sumptuous experience at Amankora Thimphu is complimented by a fantastic spa, which has three treatment rooms, with an extensive treatment menu, and a steam room.
