Hailed as Cape Town’s hidden gem, this stylish lodge, part of the family-owned Tintswalo Group, is perched beach-side at the foot of majestic Chapman’s Peak. Eight rooms offer spectacular views over Hout Bay and give the illusion of boat living, almost touching the water and a soothing serenade of crashing waves. Book the blue-hued Ithaca suite, with its shell-filled bathroom, stove and panoramic vistas for a romantic occasion. Considered hospitality is a trademark of Tintswalo’s properties and guests are treated like royalty. Welcome touches include underfloor heating in the bathrooms and hot water bottles thoughtfully placed in beds as well as a nightcap of sherry. Breakfast is leisurely and generous (tip: wake up early enough to catch the fishing boats leaving the nearby harbour), meals are superb and given a touch of drama by the magnificent ocean backdrop. Capetonian gourmands flock here to wine and dine, such is the restaurant’s reputation but the relaxed and exclusive atmosphere is never diluted. A true find.
