Namibia with the kids in tow

11 days from £5,200 for 2024 per person

Travelling with the kids can often feel like a daunting task! Our family friendly safari promises to keep the kids well and truly captivated, freeing the grown-ups to relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery, great wildlife, fascinating culture and geological marvels that are all on offer in Namibia. We have carefully chosen places where we know that the kids will be happily entertained and educated at the same time, ensuring that you all enjoy your holiday in equal measure without compromise.

The journey begins when you are met by your specialist naturalist guide who will be with you throughout your holiday and who will transport you from Windhoek to the world-renowned AfriCat Foundation. Home for the next 2 nights is the Okonjjima Bush Suite, which is a perfect place for families. With your own chef, guide and exclusive safari vehicles, you will feel like kings (and princes and princesses!) and can enjoy the privacy of your own suite without having to worry about noise levels! During the day a nanny can be arranged for younger kids, and for older kids, either nature walks on foot or time spent visiting the remarkable cheetah welfare project on the reserve are all on offer.  Another highlight for the kids is the fun bushman trail. For mum and dad and older kids, leopard tracking vehicle or large carnivore tracking on foot in search of cheetah, wild dog and spotted hyena is an exhilarating way to integrate with the wildlife.

From Okonjima, head to the southern border of Etosha National Park and on to Ongava Reserve – 30,000 hectares of unspoilt wilderness and home to Little Ongava where you will be staying for the next 2 nights. Little Ongava is a true safari gem and is a super place for families. With only 3 suites at the camp, be prepared to be pampered and well looked after by the smiley and efficient team. Each of the huge suites have plenty of room for the family as well as their own little plunge pool. Spend the days with your dedicated guide who will either take you into the Etosha National Park where you can expect to see some great wildlife or on guided bush walks in the Reserve.

Continue your journey north into the diverse and rugged Damaraland with a visit to the local Himba Tribe along the way. Stay for 2 nights at the award-winning Mowani Mountain Camp where hobbit-like accommodation opens out to far reaching views over the rugged and rocky plains beneath. From here, adventure forth on foot or in an open 4x4 safari vehicle in search of the elusive desert elephant and all the other many treasures that the desert has in store.

From Damaraland, venture southwards for a night in the fascinating coastal town of Swakopmund and stay at the family run and super-friendly Cornerstone Guest House before setting off the next morning to the Desert Outpost Homestead in the iconic Sossusvlei region of the Namib Desert. A real treat awaits at the Desert Outpost with its relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Set at the base of a mountain, the family apartment is an ideal nest from which to explore the moonscapes of the desert to try your hands at climbing some of the largest dunes on Earth. For your last day, your guide will drive you back to Windhoek for your onward journey home – just in time to catch your breath and realise that the past 2 weeks were not just a wonderful dream!

* Please note that this tour is priced based on 2 adults and 2 children travelling: £4,640 per adult and £3,129 per child. However, this is purely a suggested itinerary and can be fully altered to your family's requirements.

Client Testimonials

I barely know where to begin... though a sincere 'thank you' would be the best. You have organised this trip perfectly. May was an inspiring and delightful companion in Myanmar – thoroughly professional and friendly at the same time. My accommodation throughout has been superb, especially The Governor's Residence and The Mandarin Oriental. The view from the cottage at Inle Lake was beautiful and I loved every moment of being there. And here I am now on the last leg of this extended holiday at my favourite place. I could stay here for ever, the peace, silence and surroundings all amazing, plus the people and the whole aura of Vana. Thank you for much, and I look forward to speaking to you on my return.
- Ms Margulies, Burma, India & Thailand
We have just returned back from a wonderful trip. Thank you very much for organising everything. The transfer was excellent – for once they had perfect car seats. The villa was lovely, just what we needed and the hotel had helpfully put us as far away as possible from everyone else. The breakfast buffet was the best I have ever seen – and I am slightly obsessive over breakfast!! There was an incredible choice, something for everyone and so beautifully presented. A real highlight of the trip. Thank you again for sorting everything - and at such short notice!
- Redmayne family, Phuket
We had a wonderful holiday - everything was perfect. Thank you for helping us to make a thoughtful plan to enjoy and make most out of our trip. The places we visited, the guides, the transportation and driver, the hotels selected... Everything was great!
